FEEDBACK FROM APRIL WEEKEND FILM SCHOOL:

'I found it really informative and at the same time very laid back and informal. It has been a really enjoyable experience with friendly and approachable tutors who really know their stuff'

'A really useful 2-day experience and amazing that everything was provided for free. Everyone from Diversity was really helpful. I've learned a huge amount in a very short space of time and would feel confident using film cameras in the future. I've also discovered a lot of ways I could use film in my own work'

FARE FILM SCHOOL - FEBRUARY 08

Modelled on our highly successful Weekend Film School, the F.A.R.E. Film School took place at F.A.R.E (Family Action in Rogerfield and Easterhouse) at the mid-term break, 11th and 12th February 2008.

Six participants took part to learn and hone new skills. The young people's group made three short films, each about a subject of their choice - All About Me, My Career and Yogiho card game, while the adults group started work on a short film about F.A.R.E and the exciting new facility they are planning.

WEEKEND FILM SCHOOL - OCTOBER 07

Our first Weekend Film School was a great success! Taking place on Saturday 13th October and Sunday 14th October at Platform at the Bridge, twelve participants took part.

FEEDBACK FROM OCTOBER WEEKEND FILM SCHOOL:

'I came to the course not knowing anything about how to film and work the cameras and now I can. It is something I would like to continue to learn more about and hopefully start making some films of my own in the future! Everyone was extremely helpful and approachable too, which was great, as I was a bit nervous about coming having not known what to expect.'

'I got a lot out of coming to the Film School at the Bridge. I learned a lot about my own video camera, about interviewing people and now I know how the Michael Parkinson show works. I hope you run something in the Bridge sometime again soon.'

Check out the work-in-progress section on the Films page of our website to see what participants acheived in just a few hours of filming and editing.

DOCUMENT INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL

took place Wednesday 17th October - Sunday 21st October 2007 at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow

Another great event and one which Diversity Films were really pleased to take part in. It was a very busy week for us. Not only did we launch our website with a drinks reception sponsored by 4Talent but 14 of our filmmakers and volunteers took part in filming the festival and the associated events, interviewing visiting local and international filmmakers including Paul Watson.

Check out the Films page of our website to see what participants acheived in just a few hours of filming and editing.

Our Media in Exile discussion forum which was hosted in collaboration with the National Union of Journalists was also really fruitful, with a number of important issues about representation and diversity in the media being discussed. We plan to take the discussion forward by staging a larger, more comprehensive event in 2008.
